The installation
is made completely of roof battens. The wooden letters form a
cuboid of 1,2 meter high and 1,8 meter in side length. The model
for that work was a computer print, that was extrapolated in
proportion. The letters are extruded in depth, some letters bend
around the corner and make the word more difficult to read.
The term »ego shooter« describes a variant of computer
games. In those games the pawn in a game is invisible. Just an
armed hand can be seen that is running through corridors and
fields shooting at computer generated enemies. The screen simulates
the field of view, landscapes and buildings are projected with
polygones filled with textures. The simplified depiction of space
is actually the principle I worked with by forming the letters.
